"You uh, got any good stories?" - The Doux man
The calendar in the Convergence is broken into ten month, each with three ten day periods in the month called “10-days” or “Weeks” there are 300 days in a year. The year starts with spring and ends with winter.
Blossom:
- 1st - Yearly Beginning Festival, a time to thank Kyn for the chance a new year, and to commit to improving one's self. Babies born during the Yearly Beginning Festival are seen as especially auspicious. All flowers planted the day before the Yearly Beginning Festival Blossom for the day, then return to bulbs.
- 20th - Elections, the few democratic governments left hold elections on the first of Blossom.
Planting:
- 1st - Beginning of the planting season. Most farmers plant their crops during the month of planting.
- 30th - Ironwork Festival: A festival to celebrate all of the hard work that farmers have done throughout Planting, and a chance to offer prayer to Unjam and reap her benifits in repairing equipment. All metalworking is much more effective during the Ironworking Festival.
Warmwater:
- 7th - Hunter’s Day. A small blessing from Orion, and a glad acquiescence from Felda, any hunter that sets out on this day is sure to return with a bounty of meat fit to feed their village until the harvest next month.
- 10th - Dance Festival. More common in Della and Arifa than in Meru, this ancient celebration of whatever Gods or spirits are present and important to the survival of their communities. In fishing villages, it is the Riverdance Festival, in logging villages, the Wooddance Festival. Miracles vary from town to town.
First Harvest:
- 1st - The First Harvest Begins. Crops that are ripe more quickly are harvested now.
- 30th - Lover’s Moon. The moon is always full and bright today, and babies have a much higher chance of being conceived. People find themselves draw to those they would make a good match, and it is not uncommon to start or end a relationship on Lover’s Moon.
Cold Water:
- 29th - Ophelia Arcanaborn Day. A day to tell those responsible for your unmaking how you feel, the Arch-lich is burned in effigy today. This has a reputation for being a day of debauchery and vice, although more pious organisations have been cracking down on the worst excesses.
- 30th - The Day of Rest. Wars are stopped, farms stand still, as everyone takes this day off for peace and relaxation. Everyone needs to nurse an angry hangover.
Second Harvest:
- 1st - The Second Harvest Begins. The second, much larger, harvest begins today.
- 30th - The Harvest Festival. This is the second biggest holiday, and a massive feast for all in town. The food is never burned, and always prepared perfectly.
First Snow:
- 1st - Salt and Packing day. Today, all of the leftovers are prepared for the harsh winter ahead. Meat is salted, and vegetables are dried.
- 16th - Day of Friendship. This is the day to bury the hatchet. It always snows the day before, and people gather in the snow to celebrate lives and their connections with others.
Frozen Water:
- 5th - The Freezing. All the lakes and rivers freeze in a single night, under a sky of beautiful aurora. People gather all over to see the waters freeze.
- 10th - The Firedance. All over the Convergence, people gather around a massive central bonfire and dance in the snow. It is said that the spirits of their ancestors join them in the form of the crackling flames.
Snowflurry:
- 14th - Remembrance Day. Unequivocally the most important holiday on the calendar, this is the anniversary of both Icewind and The Unmaking. It is a holiday built to celebrate all those who died fighting to save the convergence on that day. People gather in the streets to share stories about those who have fallen, and to take loafs of doux, the miracle bread which appears in people’s house and is distributed by divinely chosen holy men.
- 15th - Daybreak. No matter the weather, the sun always rises today. It’s always just a little warmer.
Icehallow:
- 3rd - The Darkest Night. This is the longest night of the year, and is always filled with lost spirits of the past, especially those who have died in battle. Not all of these spirits are malevolent however, and their reactions vary dramatically. It is not uncommon for people to wear masks and put carved pumpkins on their doorstop to scare off these lost ghosts.
- 30th - The Icehallow. This is always the last snow of the year, a light flury that falls today. It always ends at midnight, just as the first flowers Blossom.
